Spinach Puffs with Cream Cheese

Puff pastry dough with spinach and cream cheese filling that you sure will enjoy!

These Spinach puff pastry with cream cheese is absolutely incredible. They are puff pastry filled with spinach, cream cheese, and cheddar cheese. They kind of remind me of a spinach dip but with a little twist. They are creamy on the inside and flaky on the outside and if you're a fan of spinach dip than you sure will love these.

Guess what?

The best part of this recipe its actually simple to make because we will use store bought pastry dough. However, if you do have fresh pastry dough, you are more than welcome to use it .



How I formed my Puffs

I rolled out the thawed frozen pastry dough and placed it on a lightly floured surface. You can than cut them into even size squares, you will be able to get about 9-12 small squares. I put the cut pastry puff dough into muffin pan and filled each one with the cream cheese filling and folded the edges in.


Adding the filling

Transfer the pastry dough to a lined baking sheet. So, now that you form the pastry dough, take about 2 tablespoonful of the mixture or just enough

INSTRUCTIONS:


  1. Preheat oven to 425 degree Fahrenheit

  2. Take frozen pastry dough from freezer and thaw as instructed on package

  3. Let cream cheese and eggs set at room temperature

  4. Dice onions, and finely chop spinach. In a pan heat 1 tbsp. of olive oil, add in your diced onions and let cook for about 30 seconds or until they are transparent, add in your spinach, garlic powder, salt and pepper and cook spinach and water is gone and it is sautéed.

  5. In a mixing bowl , add in your cream cheese , and spinach and onion mixture, cheese and combine together. Taste, add additional seasoning if needed.

  6. Roll out puff pastry dough onto a lightly dusted surface and cut into even squares, and put each square in muffin pan.

  7. Crack 1 whole egg and add about 1 tbsp. of water and mix.

  8. Add in about 2 tbsp. of mixture and fold edges in, lightly egg wash the edges with baking brush.

  9. Place in the oven for about 15 minutes or until golden brown

  10. Enjoy while warm


RECIPE:

This recipe serves about 6 people

INGREDIENTS
1 bag of frozen puff pastry ( thawed)
3-4 cups chopped fresh spinach
1 medium onion
1/4 cup of cheddar cheese or Mexican blend cheese 
1/4 cup of all purpose flour to spread on surface
1 8 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
1 whole egg
about 1 tbsp. of water
Seasoning for Spinach:
1/4 tsp black pepper
salt to taste
1/2 tsp garlic powder
